Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-11

AC Repair AC is an independent editorial publisher. We publish reporting, guides, reviews, and rankings about air-conditioning repair in New York City. We are not an HVAC company and do not broker repair jobs. This policy explains the limited information we collect when you read our site, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us.

Information we collect

Our web server may record standard log information when a page is requested: IP address, browser and device details, the page requested, referring page, date and time, and technical error information. We use this information to operate the site, prevent abuse, understand outages, and improve performance.

If analytics are enabled, we may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate use of the site, such as which guides readers visit and whether a page works on mobile. GA4 is not enabled simply because this policy exists. When it is enabled, its collection is subject to the settings and notices supplied with that service.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and records needed to manage your subscription, such as the signup date and unsubscribe request. If you email us, we receive the information in your message. Please do not send account credentials, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive information.

How we use information

We use information to run and secure the site, send the newsletter you requested, respond to editorial or privacy questions, measure readership when analytics are enabled, and improve our coverage of apartments, co-ops, brownstones, and other NYC housing. We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information to decide who receives AC repair services, because we do not sell or provide those services.

For readers covered by the GDPR, our usual legal bases are consent for a newsletter and optional analytics where consent is required, and legitimate interests for basic security, site operation, and limited readership measurement. You can withdraw consent for a newsletter at any time by unsubscribing. We balance those interests against readers’ privacy rights and do not use them to market repair services.

Sharing and service providers

We may use service providers for hosting, email delivery, analytics, and security. They may process information only to provide their services to us and under their own applicable terms. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect the site, respond to a valid legal process, or address fraud or security concerns. We do not sell personal information or exchange it for advertising placement.

Your privacy choices

Readers in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, California, and elsewhere may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or information about our processing, subject to applicable law and verification. California residents may also have rights described in our California Privacy Notice. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter through its unsubscribe link. Browser settings and device controls can limit some analytics and cookies; see our Cookie Policy.

New York consumer-protection rules may apply to certain communications with New York readers. We aim to make our notices clear, but this policy does not change rights that New York State or New York City law gives you.

Retention, security, and children

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including legal, security, and recordkeeping needs. No online system is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable measures suited to our small editorial operation. Our site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or applicable privacy requirements change. We will post the new effective date here. Material changes will be explained in plain language where practical.
