In brief. This page is the public log of NYC AC repair contractors we investigated but do not currently rank. Six entries as of . Each row states the failing check, the source document, and the next step (excluded, under review, or moved to a different ranking). The log is updated within 24 hours of a status change.
Our methodology requires that every ranked contractor holds an active DCWP Home Improvement Contractor licence (see how we verify licences), meets our cross-source rating floor, and can produce a Certificate of Insurance on request. When any of those fail, the contractor does not appear in the ranking. This page shows every company we investigated and why they are not there.
Categories used below. Excluded — fails a verification check with no near-term path to reinstatement. Under review — fails a check but has strong offsetting signals; we are seeking direct confirmation. Moved — the contractor is legitimate but out of scope for a residential AC ranking (typically commercial-only mechanical contractors) and will appear in a separate ranking.

How to read this log
- Every entry links to a public exclusion page that explains the specific check that failed and the evidence we reviewed. Those pages are indexable by search engines but marked
noindexin our sitemap policy so they do not compete with contractor profiles. - Re-verification cadence. Every entry is re-checked at least every 90 days. If a contractor cures the failing check (renews DCWP, publishes a Certificate of Insurance, or corrects a NAP mismatch), we lift the exclusion and update this row.
- Contractor right of reply. If you are listed here and believe the reason is incorrect or out of date, email editor@acrepair.ac with documentation. We publish corrections within 48 hours per our corrections policy.
- What this log is not. It is not a blacklist, a complaint board, or a warning about contractor quality. Several companies here have strong consumer signals; they simply fail one specific check we require before ranking, or they operate in a segment (commercial mechanical) that has its own ranking.
